Partnership for Development
As one of the Millennium Development Goals, the creation of partnership as a vehicle for the eradication of poverty has become very important in the global development agenda. This is precisely because in addition to facilitating the surmounting of the myriad of challenges faced in the eradication of poverty, partnerships also enhance the creation of more synergy and development of larger constituencies for advocacy and influencing of policies and programmes that negatively impact on the poor.
In Malawi, some of these challenges include essential reforms in order to promote broad-based pro-poor economic growth and good governance. Consequently, as a trusted and long standing development organisation, UN Malawi has built joint operational and strategic partnerships with the government of Malawi and other organisations in order to maximize the overall impact of development cooperation in Malawi.
In addition to its result-oriented development programming, some of the other strengths that UN Malawi brings into these partnerships are:
- Has enormous convening power
- Has tremendous influence on both civil society and the private sector
- Also plays a crucial role in aid coordination to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
